Tune-Up Program

Our tune-up program is designed around retrievers that have had a break from a formal training program or who have had little or no work since the last hunting season. This program is designed specifically around the individual student.

During the evaluation process it will be determined what skills will be refined and revisited based on how well the dog has retained previous lessons. We will take into consideration the type of hunting the retriever is doing, and concentrate on that particular area for advancement and refinement.

We try to put ourselves in the dog's shoes and think of every possible situation they may encounter out in the field while hunting. We expose them to it and remind them what is expected of them in these various situations. If your dog handles we practice sitting on the whistle, lining, casting, and cold blinds. These are skills that can easily become sloppy when they are not used frequently.

The tune-up program is also a problem-solving program. Here we can isolate specific issues and create consistent repetitive situations to alleviate a bad habit or refine a weak skill.
