Formal Training Begins
Everything up until this point in a puppy's life should have been fun and encouraging. They were taught to follow commands with the rewards of treats and praise. The puppy was exposed to sights and sounds that they will now encounter during formal training.
Once formal training begins, the puppy is taught the proper commands to be in control and to be a good citizen. Their life gradually becomes full of more responsibilities. When the puppy is commanded to come, they are now expected to follow the command or there is a consequence to pay for their disobedience.
As time goes on, the puppy learns the behavior that is acceptable and unacceptable in the yard and in the field. Formal training begins with a consistent schedule that is now more strict and full of more mental stimulation than what your puppy is probably used to.
Therefore, it is not uncommon for puppies to take a week or two to fall into the routine and get accustomed to their new way of life. As the puppy adjusts, we begin marking, developing positive training attitudes, and conventional basic obedience.
