"Retrieve Your Dreams"
Biography
From an early age Tera was exposed to the outdoors and many hunting adventures. Growing up in the marshes of Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron in Michigan, Tera grew fond of duck and goose hunting.
Always having a love for dogs, Tera began working and guiding pheasant hunts at a local preserve after high school graduation. This experience and passion for working over good hunting dogs developed into a journey of knowledge -- seeking out other trainers, reading materials, and attending seminars to better learn the trade of training dogs. Tera quickly learned that her true calling was developing and enhancing the natural abilities of young retrievers. Tera then decided to seek an apprenticeship with a well-established and successful retriever kennel.
While on a winter training trip with Karl and Cyndi Gunzer, Tera was introduced to Bill Eckett, the Owner and AA Trainer of Blackwater Retrievers. That winter, Bill offered Tera a position training the young retrievers for Blackwater. While at Blackwater Retrievers, Bobby George and Bill Eckett gave Tera the knowledge and tools to blossom into the trainer that she is today.
With the guidance of these two seasoned pros and working with a multitude of dogs at different levels and abilities, Tera was truly able to hone her skills as a retriever trainer. Blackwater Retrievers taught her many life lessons, a proven and successful retriever program, and the way to properly operate a kennel that produces results.
To this day, Tera continues to educate herself in order to stay abreast of the constant changes in the retriever sport. This enables her to evolve with the increased difficulty of the tests that the dogs are put up against and stay competitive in all venues.
Tera is now Owner/Trainer of Bay Blue Kennels, wintering in Giddings, TX and summering in Au Gres, MI. Bay Blue is a retriever kennel focused on developing young, competitive retrievers for hunt tests, field trials, and working gun dogs. Bay Blue's primary objective is to train train train!!
